White Rabbits.....

Good afternoon and welcome back.

Having just waved off my lovely daughter back to university.....feeling empty.

Every time.

Anyway, perhaps I should try to do some preparation for the acrylic/collage painting

course I will be starting on Wednesday. Mmm...should have got on to this earlier.

After all, I have known about it for weeks!

A bit late....like the White Rabbit

Must have been my subconscious prompting this.

Was actually having a go at parchment grid work. I really rather enjoy the repetitive

pattern snipping.....though it probably annoys anyone else in the room trying to watch TV.

Will now go and listen to a Doctor Who cd and slop a bit of paint around.

Bye for now, P.

Think of an Idea....and Use What You've Got!

Hello All and Happy Easter!

Today I thought I would share a project where I had an idea and then

searched through the Groovi plates in my box for things to fit......

thinking outside the box you might say......

This is made up from all sorts of bits of totally unrelated designs. I like to put my own

marks (literally!) on the products I buy.

Here are the plates I used......spot the elements.......

And the Northern Lights background paper makes it glow :)

It looks different framed in blue....

Which do you prefer....?

Bye for now, P.

More Parchment (and a random cow).....

Hello All and Welcome,

This parchment thing is becoming a bit of an obsession......and it's all

because it is so accessible.....due to the trolley. Am I in danger of becoming

a real couch potato??

Somehow I just can't get away from 3-D though. I am really not drawn to flat..

it has to either be or look like dimension.

Just to prove that I haven't quite reached the couch potato stage yet, just look

into these beautiful eyes

It was a beautiful morning for walkies :)

Bye for now, P.

A Smile for a Grey Day.......

Hello All,

When it's a grey day it's good to brighten things up with warm colours and a

smile!

How lovely is that?

I am really enjoying experimenting with parchment art at the moment.....probably because

I have found a way of making it accessible and convenient for on the sofa in front of the

TV crafting....

......my portable Groovi IKEA trolley ;)

Everything is there ready for even the shortest bits of free time, and when I need to make

the place look tidy I can push it out of the way.

Good thinking eh?

Think I might go and do a bit now.....

Groovi for Men......

Hello and a happy sunny afternoon!

What was that big warm yellow round thing in the sky? I think it was actually the sun!

It seems to have been so long that I have almost forgotten. SO lovely.

If you are familiar with the "Groovi" parchment craft system, you my know that they run

a monthly challenge on facebook. This time "its a man's world". I don't make cards for men,

(husband gets a bought one if I'm feeling extra generous and actually remember).

So it was a bit of a trial......but I like it now.

If you've not seen "Groovi" then look it up.....good relaxing fun.

Was looking forward to a creative weekend....now painting windowsills :(

Might allow myself the evening off (if I can reclaim my slippers).

Bye for now, P.

From the Scrap Bag......

Good Evening,

Welcome back to my blog :)

Whilst cleaning under the bed today, I came across the scrap bag. It has hidden there

for quite some time....probably years actually. I used to do a lot of machine applique

but not recently....not sure why but.....

I also realised that I have never actually tried out most of the fancy stitches on my

machine. So this is what happened

Just a random thing, from the scrap bag.

It's actually the sort of thing I see every day

So not too difficult to improvise. And the fancy stitches on my machine do work.

The scrap bag.....back under the bed for now.

Thank you for looking, P.

The Dark Winter "Can't be Bothereds"......

Hello All and welcome!

I must begin by apologising for the long absence......a combination of two failed house

sales, continued daily employment at the hospital, and a severe case of the dark winter

"can't be bothereds"!

It's the lack of daylight.

However......it's getting better! The daylight is getting longer, and I start to feel able to

move the dog off my knee (such a good hot water bottle substitute) and ease my way

back into creating with a few small projects.

Still things I can do on a tray in a warm room ......but it's a start.

Parchment art is something I'm trying to master, I really admire some of the really good

parchment artists out there, who have far more patience then I have. The Groovi Plate

system from Clarity Stamps has given me the courage to have a go. I just need a good

daylight lamp to fix to my tray to help the old eyesight!

Another armchair project that I seem to return to when I need comfort in times of stress,

or just tiredness, is hexagon patchwork.....

Easy, pretty and relaxingly repetitive :)

And I have a cutting die so I no longer have to draw out the hexagons.....yay!

So watch this space....my poor neglected blog is back on the road.

Bye for now, P.
